Review: AliExpress airband receiver - a complete waste of money
Everyone who flies an RC plane or drone should (in my opinion) carry a receiver that is able to receive aircraft transmissions on the aviation-band. This significantly increases "situational awareness" and adds another layer of safety to our hobby -- so important in an era when regulators are just waiting for an excuse to further restrict us.
I had high hopes for this DSP radio that is supposed to work on the AM and FM broadcast bands as well as the airband. It would have made a great pocket-sized receiver that anyone could clip on their belt and use to help keep themselves and the skies safe.
Sadly, it is one of the worst products I have ever reviewed and has such poor sensitivity on the aviation band that it is effectively useless. Do not waste your money on this piece of rubbish.
Stay tuned however, because I will soon be reviewing the R80 aviation-band kitset receiver in the hopes that it is a better alternative.
And, before everyone writes in the comments "what about the Baofeng ham handheld?" -- I will also be looking at this option but unfortunately it isn't a legal option for many countries due to its ability to transmit across a wide range of (licensed) frequencies.

Review: iFlight FPV backpack - after a 10 mile hike
Переглядів 4,2 тис.4 місяці тому
A backpack is an increasingly important part of any FPVer's gear these days and in this review I look at the iFlight backpack and how it performs on hikes that are longer than just the few yards from your car to a bando. Pros: - it's pretty damned comfortable - it has lots of little zips and pockets - it's really well made (strong, tough) Cons: - it's not cheap (but still represents good value)...
Review: Jumper T-20 RC transmitter (watch before you buy!)
Переглядів 17 тис.9 місяців тому
The Jumper T-20 radio is about to become my daily drive for almost all my RC planes, quadcopters (drones) and other RC models, watch this review to find out why that is. However *YOU MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO TO THE END* to avoid potentially wasting your money on what is, in my opinion, a fantastic feeling radio. Unless you enjoy a bit of a gamble, make sure you buy the radio from a reputable and p...
The DroneTag broadcast RID module (the cheapest option?)
Переглядів 36 тис.Рік тому
If you fly a drone or RC plane in the USA then as of 16 September 2023 then you will probably need to fit a broadcast remote ID module to it. DroneTag have come up with their 'Basic Solution' unit which is a pared-to-the-bone option but unless you buy it on special, it is almost exactly twice the price the FAA quoted as their expected figure for such things. Hopefully I'll get my hands on one o...

Get more flight time with a DIY lithium-ion battery
Переглядів 30 тис.Рік тому
Whether you fly a drone or RC plane, using a lithium-ion battery instead of a lipo can give you more flight time and, if you build your own, even save you money. In this video I build a 6S Li-Ion battery using 21700 cells and take it for a test flight on the Foxeer Aura 7 quadcopter where it delivers 20 minute flight times. Review: Foxeer Aura 7 long-range 7-inch quadcopter drone
Переглядів 4,8 тис.Рік тому
Everyone should have a 7-inch long range drone in their collection and the Aura 7 ticks most of the boxes. Pros: - good quality components and good overall design - wide range of RC and FPV equipment options - as close to a true BNF as you'll get - excellent efficiency and flight-times - the folding props are very convenient and work well - should work well with DJI O3 (props hardly in view) Co...

Runcam Thumb HD with Gyroflow stabilization
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
Is the Runcam Thumb HD a cinema camera? No it most certainly is not but when teamed up with the free Gyroflow stabilization software it produces some very acceptable results for such a budget-priced camera. I'm sorry that UA-cam is probably going to mangle this footage with compression artifacts but I'm sure you'll be able to decide for yourselves whether this camera is worth the money for your...

cool
Fantastic video. Learned a lot, laughed a bit too.
Really bad because this might also happen if you fly manually in turbulent strong wind conditions which normally isn't really a problem for most drones.
I still have this quad and it flys in 2024. The Lumenier 1806 2300kv motors still work but the bearings are a little rough. I did upgrade the escs to BL Heli S a while ago and an old Betaflight F3 FC. It is still fun for cruising around 👍
Thanks sir I appreciate your teaching and the technic how to do ohm's law It really help me in linesman course
I understand that it should be more efficient in theory but in practice with electric ducted fans they are battery burners and seemingly not efficient
Hey looking at seting up 3dr telemetry system, can either have 433mhz or 915mhz, do you know is used in nz? Have checked rnz frequences pdf and states 433mhz range for telemetry (marine) low power devices allowed unit is only 200mv do you know if this is ok
The same return problem exists on eBay. A product is located in the UK but if it's faulty it has to be returned to China. It's a rip off.
I wish he would talk slower instead of gabbling as fast as he can.
so swiping wings dont give more lift? and dont offer less drag?
Thats exactly how differential ailerons work, except you would need the horn on the underside of the control surface so you have more upward throw than downward throw to prevent adverse yaw and drag on the climbing wing in a turn. For rudder and elevator, you want it to be as you state.
Good free explanation 💡
Whiteboards are remarkable
I always love when people push these small quads like chasing cars etc. Makes you really go like “oh wow it’s quick”. This was fun to watch thanks!
Thank you for this!
and again
Define “lines of force” I dare you
I have a Cox 020 with a wooden prop that my Dad bought in California in the 50s. I only remember running it one time as a teen but we never mounted it on a plane. I got a Cox Spitfire 049 powered when I was 13, never flew it though. It was gorgeous, had a sliding canopy and detailed cockpit. The fuel would soften the plastic if you didn’t thoroughly clean the plane with soapy water after running the motor. I replaced the wing once because of that. I still have the motor.
what a fucking explanation!!!
Very informative video , great job explaining how it all works 👌😉
Great way to teach , thank you sir
It's not really a duct, doesn't have the effect of one (would have to be deeper to be a duct, as with the first drone you showed). It's simply a prop guard. I love your diagrams!
Flux.
I don't have these issues with sa305 and nice flux. also I find that a good quality soldering iron is necessary with lead-free, you need higher temp and better thermal transfer.
I have tried to thermal a DLG Whip-it with no success, a UMX Radian (a few rides), a 2m Night Radian (nothing), and 2M SZD-54. (4+ rides).
Hi Bruce (XJET), how are things in Tokoroa?
I often just watch the tail; if it bounces up, I know I am into a thermal and will turn to stay in it. I don't often see a wing rise.
Hi Bruce My HK Power Supply Fan always spinning quite loud even if I do not connect it to the charger, is that normal?
Very interested in your battery making videos it would be awesome to see you make some more!
How are the Samsung batteries? I can't seem to find the LG's in stock anywhere that seem to be real LG batteries and not the knock off. I'm in the US. I don't know about other countries, but the Sony battery that you mentioned in one of your videos I have found.Lg is not in stock.I'm very interested in making some of these packs.
Did you ever try cutting down the elevator ? Kind of tempted on one of these. A couple in UK at the moment at an ok price.
I've seen too many people complain about the quality issues on this radio to want to take a chance on one. I bought a Boxer Max instead.
one thing i've heard about wingtip devices (at least on conventional layouts, i.e. not flying wings) is that, as you mentioned, they function very much like an extension of the wing, that is, you get a higher aspect ratio without increasing the span - the drawback is increased drag - most airliners use them because it's easier to install than to re-engineer the entire wing - kit planes tend not to have them for the same reason.
Briliant. I was struggling with the concept of centre of gravity and that added it all up.
What is a good first set up 2 get for fpv im very keen to get into it but i have a nitro truggy and wondering if the engine noise and vibrations will mess with the camera
Got a link to that controller cheers a
I like the sincere opinions that give companies want to sell and not give a good product to the consumer.
I bought it and the levers wires break from the solder, my God, put silicon wires and the worst thing they sent me the radio without the lid of the barbershop and without the piece for the batteries.
lead free solder does suck its shit? do gooders again ?ucke? it up for people that what to repair there own stuff i dont bothere trying to fix it now i just bin it
My goodness, this is close enough to digital for me! Very beautiful footage!
Happened to stumble upon this video as i acquired some nitro/glow engines. Super informative ... Learned some new things. And I recognize the voice from your other channel Bruce. Didnt realize this was your channel too... How cool! Again, thanks for the education! Super helpful!
Very informative and helpful, great video.
At the 1:21 mark field lines should come out of the north pole and end on the south pole? You should rotate the field pattern 90 degrees? In your experiment at 5:30 the orientation of the magnet is important. If the axis of the magnet is parallel to the plane of the wire loop no current is produced when the magnet is moved back a forth in a plane parallel to the loop? I did the experiment with my multi-meter. I could detect a voltage but no current (as the meter was more sensitive to voltage then current) when the magnet axis was perpendicular to the plane of the loops and movement of the magnet was parallel to the plane of the loops or when the magnet axis was perpendicular to the loops and movement was towards the center of the loops. To increase the sensitivity the meter lines were coiled into 8 loops. Thanks
ther are law makers that dont have ANY COMMON SENSE AT ALL! WHAT HAPPENTED! they lost their memories over time or the ability to comprehend BASIC RC KNOWLEDGE. IF SO we need to change them and bring others to do the work properlly. AND WE AND THEY MUST REMEMBER THEY ARE IN THOSE POSITIONS TO MAKE OUR LIFES BETTER AND NOT THE OPPOSITE ! THEY WORK FOR US! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND , THEY ARE OUR EMPLOEES ,PEOPLE WAKE UP AND TAKE ACTIONsorry for the caps i wanted to be louder than used to . thaks in advance for reading this post and sorry for the bad grammar ,en. are not my first lang.
Im seenig in the future of the FAA a MASIVE LAW SUITE! from all the vendors hole salerers and manufactures .
